Following the first glimpse at the latest chunk of robo-powered Bayhem in the Super Bowl teaser for Transformers: Age Of Extinction, now comes the first full trailer for the film, which gives us a better look at the humans but doesn’t skimp on snippets from the set pieces.

We’re properly introduced to Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager, a cash-strapped mechanic who dismantles junkers for parts he can sell. But his latest discovery, a seemingly beaten up, rusted old semi truck, proves to be something quite different: it’s Optimus Prime! Who has clearly been through the wringer (or wants people to think he has).

His discovery quickly triggers the arrival of government forces, led by Kelsey Grammer’s Harold Attinger, who demands to know the rogue machine’s whereabouts, as Transformers are essentially roboto non grata in the years since the Battle Of Chicago and other conflicts that ravaged some huge Earth cities. Long thought to be either off planet or in hiding, “the age of the Transformers,” as Attinger sneers, “is over.” But his attempts to coerce Cade and co. into giving up their new friend don’t go down well with Optimus, who takes action.

From there, it’s the predictable smash-cut set of action shots, intercut with little moments (such as Stanley Tucci’s Joshua telling Bumblebee that they’re not needed anymore) and, of course, big, nasty evidence to the contrary for our robo-needs arriving from the depths of space. Yep, Galvatron is upon us, ladies and germs and he’s here to shoot first and ask questions later… Well, he’s here to shoot. Questions are probably optional.

Also featured here is a nifty standoff between Prime and Grimlock and more from Strafe, the two-headed pterodactyl. Talking of Prime, he's the star of the latest character poster for the movie, which we've added to the others. He apparently wants to give the stars of 300: Rise Of An Empire a complex in the sword-measuring department.

With Sophia Myles, Jack Reynor and Li Bingbing also among the cast, Transformers: Age Of Extinction will be out on July 10.
