Full Pompeii Trailer Erupts

If Monday’s release of new imagery was the smoke and a bit of rumbling, here comes the powerful, deep throated erupting roar of Mt. Vesuvius as the full trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii arrives online.

Game Of Thrones' Kit Harington faces more stacked odds as Milo, a slave who must rescue not only his best pal (fellow gladiator Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) but also the woman he loves, Cassia (Emily Browning), when Vesuvius erupts and begins to bury the shining Roman city of Pompeii under ash and debris. There’s just one other issue when it comes to Cassia and Milo’s happiness: she’s promised to a nasty roman senator, played by Kiefer Sutherland.

He doesn’t show up much in this trailer, which is more focused on Milo’s misadventures and what most people will be turning up for: big shots of the volcano going all medieval on the Romans. History will likely take second place to big set pieces and the central love story, and it’ll remain to be seen whether Anderson can rein in the OTT tendencies that brought us The Three Musketeers. Will it be the (Dante's) peak of his career, or will we all say "volca-no!" (Sorry.)

We’ll find out when Pompeii arrives in cinemas on February 21.
