First Full Clip From Guardians Of The Galaxy
And there's a new pic to boot
With Captain America: The Winter Soldier going great guns at box offices around the world, Marvel can now throw the full weight of its marketing machine behind a much bigger challenge: launching those Guardians Of The Galaxy upon us all. To help that effort, the first clip from the movie is now online courtesy of MTV.
If you’ve seen the trailer for Guardians, you will have seen most of this clip already, since it features Chris Pratt as human scoundrel Peter Quill (trying to establish himself as renegade mercenary Star-Lord) being interrupted while nabbing a strange, seemingly powerful orb by Djimon Hounsou’s Korath The Pursuer. What follows is then a quick-cut montage drawn from the rest of the trailer, introducing us to the other “Guardians”, a rag-tag assemblage of assassins (Zoe Saldana’s green-hued Gamora), genetically engineered troublemakers (Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper), vengeful warriors (Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista) and giant tree-things (Groot, with Vin Diesel’s rumbling vocals) who must save the galaxy from various threats.
Director James Gunn has also posted a new picture of the main characters in their prison attire, and make sure you keep an eye on his Twitter feed for other behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot, even as he finishes up some small additional shoot days.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for this one, while keeping our faith in Marvel’s ability to marry compelling concepts with good movies. Guardians Of The Galaxy lands on August 1.
