It would appear that Facebook is now the marketing tool of choice for all 20th Century Fox genre films, since hot on the heels of the X-Men: First Class image releases comes word that the first proper glimpse of the simian revolutionaries from Rise of the Planet of the Apes will happen at the movie’s official site on Wednesday.

Joe Letteri and Dan Lemmon, two of the Weta Digital effects team who are providing all the CG effects for the movie, will be participating in a live stream event moderated by Empire's own Dan Jolin. It's all to show off how the apes are being brought to life, based on motion capture performances by Andy Serkis and the other simian thespians. To promote the event, a video showing four seconds of central ape Caesar (Serkis) is now up for your staring pleasure.

As for the presentation itself, that’s scheduled to start at 10:30pm in the UK (or 2:30pm PDT for US readers). The newly named Rise of the Planet of the Apes: Based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire also features James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, Brian Cox and David Oyelowo. Rupert Wyatt’s behind the camera and the film will be invading our cinemas on August 5.
