Englund Says He's Not In Nightmare Re-do

Robert Englund has told Badtaste.it that it's very unlikely that he'll play any part in the upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. "I'm too old for this new version, otherwise it would be Freddie vs. Viagra". Though he hasn't been contacted about any participation in the new film, he says he would welcome a cameo because he loves Michael Bay, who serves as one of the producers.

Sorry, but this completely kills this movie for us. Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger. You can replace a Jason Voorhees or a Leatherface because they're masked. You can't put another actor in Freddy's glove and expect it to work. The Elm Street films were, at best, quite good horror films with a classic villain. Take away the image of Freddy and, unless you're a massive fan, what do you actually remember from the original movie? We're not wild about the idea of remaking this at all, but remaking it without Englund? That's nightmarish.
