In space, no one can hear you scream. It’s fortunate that we are not in space, then, and everyone can hear you scream – with delight! – at the latest edition of Empire. Issue #336 of the world’s biggest movie magazine features Alien: Covenant’s iconic Xenomorph on the cover – but that’s just the tip of an 162-page magazine-shaped iceberg. Here’s what’s inside Empire this month. Want to get your copy days before anyone else? Subscribe to Empire here{ =nofollow}.

Alien: Covenant

Ridley Scott’s return to the Alienverse is our cover feature this month, with eight pages of never-before-seen images, exclusive on-set reportage, and chats with everyone involved, including Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, and Sir Ridders himself. The Xenomorph refused to speak on the record, sadly.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge

Empire issue preview

Yarr! Disney’s swashbucklin’ franchise reaches its fifth entry. ‘Tis a tale of script delays, mass vomiting, cast injuries, and a suicidal monkey. Empire sets sail for an epic behind-the-scenes story that will be sure to shiver some timbers. Yo ho, and indeed, ho.

King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword

The Arthurian legend is almost as old as storytelling itself, but we can rely on director Guy Ritchie to bring a modern blockbuster swagger to a well-trodden tale. Our exclusive set report from the fantasy-inflected historical romp pulls the sword of journalistic rigour from the stone of set reportage, so to speak.

Empire Awards 2017

Widely considered as the culmination of awards season – move aside, Oscars – the 23rd annual Empire Awards saw the great and good of Hollywood descend on London’s Roundhouse for a glitzy and occasionally boozy bash. Read what went down in the issue.

Veep

Empire issue preview

The last twelve months has seen real-life politics overtake satirical politics in the crazy stakes, which rather begs the question: how does Veep handle it? As Armando Iannucci's acclaimed HBO comedy enters its fifth foul-mouthed season, the cast and crew share their thoughts on how to Make America Veep Again.

The Empire Interview: Noomi Rapace

This issue’s big interview goes to Noomi Rapace, the Swedish actress who exploded into the world’s consciousness with the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, and returns to our screens with this month’s Unlocked. She talks with us about her fear of spiders, her bespoke perfume for each character she plays, taxidermy – all while eating a red pepper raw, like an apple.

On.Screen: Fast & Furious 8

Grab a Corona from the mini-fridge and rev yourself up for this month’s bumper review section, which starts with Fast & Furious 8 and puts pedal to the critical metal, with reviews of Ghost In The Shell, The Promise, The Belko Experiment, and many more.

Re.View: Rogue One

Our back section takes us back to a galaxy far, far away with a viewing guide of last year’s Star Wars spin-off mega-hit Rogue One. Plus, we look back at the BBC’s dark anthology hit Inside No. 9, speak to Passengers screenwriter Jon Spaihts, and Children Of Men gets the Empire Masterpiece treatment.

All this, and a substantial amount more, can be found in your new issue of Empire, on sale in all good and evil newsagents now. Want to get the world’s biggest movie magazine delivered to your door every month (with exclusive limited edition covers)? Subscribe to Empire here{ =nofollow}.
