Emmanuelle Chriqui Heads To Georgia

From Entourage to reportage

The dust may still be settling on Russia's conflict with Georgia, but Renny Harlin isn't messing about, with Georgia, his (anti)war movie set during the war, picking up another cast member in the shapely form of Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Chriqui, best known as Eric's girlfriend Sloan in Entourage, will play a local woman who becomes entangled with an American journalist (Val Kilmer) and cameraman assigned to cover Georgia's 2008 assault on the Russian-backed Republic of South Ossetia. Andy Garcia will play Georgia president Mikheil Saakashvili.

It's political sensitive terrain - the war left more than 100,000 homeless and left deep rifts between the two countries - so it will no doubt call on a different side to the Harlin oeuvre. As executive producer Michael Flannigan told Georgian television: "Our main concern was to show war as a bad thing. We had an opportunity to make a really anti-war film." In other words, if you're expecting an actioner in a similar vein to Cliffhanger or Die Hard 2, think again.

Harlin also shares a production credit with Flannigan, George Lascu and David Imedashvili.
