Doug Bradley Takes A Wrong Turn

We've yet to see Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings arrive on these shores, but the franchise is already plowing ahead with more backwoods, mountain-man, cannibal shenanigans. Wrong Turn 5** is now underway, with erstwhile Pinhead Doug Bradley heading up the cast.

The cheerfully gnarly series has been quietly bludgeoning away for almost a decade now. It began with Rob Schmidt's original Hills Have Eyes knock-off in 2003, boasting bloody FX work by the late, great Stan Winston, and surprising everyone by being quite good. Joe Lynch's DTV sequel Dead End was also better than you might have imagined, and had Rollins in it.

Since that point, the series has been adopted by Declan O'Brien (Sharktopus). He made little impression with his forgettable third instalment Left For Dead, but rallied with Bloody Beginnings, a fun prequel which took the action out of the woods and into an abandoned sanitarium, and provided an origin story for de facto series icon Three Fingers and his snaggle-toothed family.

Part 5, which doesn't have a sub-title yet, sees O'Brien bring us back to the present day and into some sort of civilisation. A small West-Virginian town is holding its traditional mountain-man festival - "A wild night of music and mischief" - when the Hellbillies infiltrate to spoil everyone's fun and eat their eyeballs. Hate it when that happens.

There's no word on Doug Bradley's role yet, but we'd guess he's some sort of town elder or lawman rather than anything monstrous. The word on the street is that he'll be joined by Roxanne McKee (Game Of Thrones' Doreah). Shooting is now underway in Bulgaria, for a release - in the States at least - sometime this year.
