Dominic Cooper Finds Summer In February

He’s garnering plenty of positive awards-focused buzz for his dual turn in The Devil’s Double, but Dominic Cooper is looking for something a little less with the torture for a future project. He’s attached to star in love-triangle drama Summer In February.

Cooper will star alongside Ophelia Lovibond, Dan Stevens and Hattie Morahan in the story of Alfred Munnings, a member of the decidedly bohemian Lamorna Group, who were based in Cornwall around the dawn of the 20th century.

Munnings himself specialised in rural portraits, and was also involved in World War I. Though he volunteered to serve, he was considered unfit for duty and ended up in civilian jobs, helping to oversee horses being sent off into combat (shades of **War Horse **there, but we doubt the film will cover that chunk of his life).

Christopher Menaul, who has largely worked on TV movies and series but made his film debut with last year’s First Night, is on to direct, working from a script by Jonathan Smith.

Cooper, meanwhile, will next be seen in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter playing Henry Sturgess, the man who trains Abe to fight the vampire menace.
