Danny McBride Set For Cameron Crowe's Latest

He'll join Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone

Usually found being comically obnoxious on the big and small screen, Danny McBride is set to bring his laugh-grabbing chops to Cameron Crowe’s romantically funny world. He’s locked in a supporting role in Crowe’s latest, untitled film.

While the Almost Famous director is playing his cards close to his chest on this one, it’s most likely to be an updated, re-written version of his script codename Deep Tiki, which was to have starred Ben Stiller before delays and other issues scuttled the last go-around.

Things appear to be on a better track now, with Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams lined up to star in the tale of a defence contractor (Cooper) supervising the launch of a weapons platform satellite from Hawaii. As he flirts with his air force liaison – Stone’s plucky pilot – they start to become convinced that the island’s mystical forces and a strange talking computer want them to ruin the project.

Of course, things might have changed since the last time Crowe was setting the project up, but McBride is definitely locked in for some sort of role. The writer/director aims to have the cameras rolling in August.

Last seen in This Is The End, McBride will be back on television for the final season of Eastbound & Down and is part of the cast for HBO TV movie Clear History.
