Damon Wants Father Daughter Time

And he may direct it...

Given that his old mucker Ben Affleck has been directing for a while now to plenty of acclaim, and that he's always expressed an interest in directing, it was only a matter of time before Matt Damon followed him behind the camera. And now he may have found his first project, with Deadline reporting that he’s seriously considering jumping on board newly-purchased spec script Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses as both star and director.

Written by Cleaner’s Matthew Aldrich, the script follows a man on the lam with his daughter who just happens to be his accomplice on a crime spree that spreads across three US states.

Aldrich’s work has been the focus of a heavily contested script auction, with the likes of Paramount, Warner Bros., Relativity Media, producer Walter Parkes and even Matt Damon and producing partner Chris Moore, whose Pearl Street company raised cash to bid from a private investor. It’s all the more impressive because the screenplay arrived with zero stars or big name directors attached.

Now it appears that Warners is in the final stages of locking in a deal to acquire the rights, and that Damon (who just so happens to have a first-look deal with the studio alongside Moore and fellow producer Affleck) will attach himself as the lead and possibly the director.

It’s still fairly early stages on this, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the official announcement comes soon enough…
