While there have been some bumps in the road, it would appear that Jurassic Park IV’s development jeep has not suffered a T-Rex attack and the film should be driving into cinemas in 2015. Now director Colin Trevorrow – who comes to the film fresh from indie Safety Not Guaranteed – has been explaining his aims for the new walk in the Park.

Chatting with the team at Schmoes Know, Trevorrow dodged the question of whether the movie is a reboot, saying, "We don't want to create a new scoop here, but we definitely want to honour what came before us."

While he was naturally cagey about giving anything away, he did offer praise for the process of working with Jurassic Park warden Steven Spielberg: "It's incredible to have Steven, who's done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and just understands the language of the story in a way that for us is very refreshing. It's not like getting notes from a studio executive, it's really just trying to crack this and make it the best it can be."

Finally, he’s quick to mention the care everyone involved is taking with the new outing. "We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time and really the conversation is: It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s how do we make something that can stand with the first one." Trevorrow and regular writing partner Derek Connolly have been busy working on a script originally penned by Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and with the extra time for development hopefully all involved can make a worthy successor to the original. Plot details are officially under wraps, though rumours have suggested a working park going wrong and an aquatic dino sequence…
