No more Bruce Wayne for him

The Dark Knight Rises

This will probably not come as much of a surprise to, well, anyone who has heard or read Christian Bale talk about his possible future as Bruce Wayne. But he’s gone on the record again to reiterate his position: no Chris Nolan, no Bat-Bale.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three Batman films. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” Bale tells EW. “Chris Nolan always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

As for any likely Justice League film, we’d best get used to another occupant in the cowl. “I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it.

“It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

So there you have it, once more laid out in black and white. Bale has been keeping himself busy working on plenty of projects, including Terrence Malick’s **Knight Of Cups **and other, untitled film, plus David O. Russell’s American Hustle and crime thriller Out Of The Furnace, which hits here on November 29.

To relive the high points of Nolan and Bale's mighty Bat-trilogy head over to our huge Dark Knight celebration.
