Chris Pine’s most recent appearance in a comedy was a sneaky one: he’s almost unrecognizable during a brief cameo in Celeste And Jesse Forever. The Star Trek actor will be a little more noticeable in his next grab for laughs, signing on to play a scheming man in **Horrible Bosses 2.

The sequel is shooting now with Sean Anders and John Morris taking over the directing/producing reins from original Bosses man Seth Gordon. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day are back as the main characters for a script that has seen work from John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein and has been polished by Anders and Morris.

Though the majority of the plot details are still a secret, we know, thanks to Pine’s casting, that he’ll be part of a father-son duo who steals the lads’ idea for a new invention.

Pine, who had been linked to the film last week, is officially aboard now. He’s also set to appear in** Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit**, which arrives on December 26. The actor has also worked on Joe Carnahan’s Stretch and has been shooting Rob Marshall’s movie musical version of** Into The Woods**.
