Last July, it appeared that Stephen King’s story **The Ten O’Clock People might finally be torn from the pages of the Nightmares And Dreamscapes collection, with news that Fright Night's Tom Holland was setting up an adaptation and had secured Justin Long to star. After some time lingering in development, Long is out thanks to scheduling issues, but Holland is aiming to line up Chris Evans to star instead.

If he does make a deal, Evans will play Brandon Pearson, a man attempting to give up smoking, only to find that the resulting chemical imbalance causes some interesting side effects.

Thanks to his nicotine-craving brain and now-limited smoking habit, Brandon is somehow able to see certain people for who they really are, They Live-style. He discovers to his horror that some in positions of power (including his own boss) aren’t human at all, but are creatures called “batmen” who are slowly taking over the planet. Encouraged to join a group looking to stop them, his paranoia grows.

Holland was also talking to Rachel Nichols about the film, but it’s not clear whether she ever actually signed on. He’s looking to shoot in Atlanta this autumn.

Evans is busy shooting his return as Captain America in The Winter Soldier, which will hit our screens on April 2, 2014. He’s already worked on Snowpiercer and A Many Splintered Thing, and is first back in UK cinemas as part of The Iceman, due June 7. Also on his to-do list: Avengers 2, which is due to shoot early next year.
