The remake of Creature From The Black Lagoon is one of those more recent projects that has had some trouble swimming through the murky development waters. But now it looks like Ridley Scott prodigy Carl Rinsch might be the man to fish him out.
Rinsch, of course, was the man who was seriously considered to take over the Alien prequel/sequel/whatever that Sir Rid has since added to his crowded list of possible films.
But since then, the younger director has jumped on to Universal's Samurai pic 47 Ronin, with Keanu Reeves attached to star and a shoot pencilled in to next year.
Creature, of course, has been bubbling away for a while now, but Breck Eisner, who had been developing the film, dropped out early this year, and very little has been heard about it since then.
Since he's already connected to Universal through the Ronin film, it only makes sense that the studio would try to lock him in to other assignments.
Even if he does sign on, he'll need to wait for a fresh draft of the script to come in as Universal has junked Eisner's take and doesn't seem to be going back to previous work by Gary Ross.
Looks like we'll still have to wait a little longer for the gill-man to creep back on to screens.
