James Franco likes to wear a lot of creative hats; in fact, he seems to get itchy and nervous when he’s not working on several projects at once. Now the trailer for one of his most recent endeavours, As I Lay Dying, is online via Yahoo.

To give the man some credit, not every young filmmaker would attempt to adapt a William Faulkner novel. But Franco’s always seemed just that little bit fearless, even if not everything he tries works out.

On this one, he’s directing, writing and starring, playing Darl Bundren, who along with some of his family, is trying to honour the final wishes of his mother, Addie. She wants to be buried in the nearby town of Jefferson, which presents a logistical challenge for Darl, brother Cash (Jim Parrack) and their father Anse (Tim Blake Nelson).

With the likes of Logan Marshall-Green, Danny McBride and Ahna O’Reilly in the cast, As I Lay Dying is set to premiere at Cannes. There’s no word on a UK release date yet.
