Whether or not there's any need to remake Alfred Hitchock's classic The Birds is something that could be debated for weeks, likely with the final answer of 'Hell, no'. But if it's going to be tweaked for a modern audience, you might as well get a good team behind it.

For their update of the Daphne Du Maurier story about birds terrorising a town for no obvious reason, Universal already have Naomi Watts for the Tippi Hedren role – a fine choice.
