Sofia Coppola is one of a select group of current filmmakers who can lay claim to tracking down and securing the acting services of the lesser-spotted Bill Murray. The Lost In Translation director will reunite with her star for a new film, On The Rocks, which will also feature Rashida Jones.
While we've gotten used to gaps between Coppola's output, it's reassuring to see that she's back relatively quickly after The Beguiled. On The Rocks, which Coppola wrote, will see Jones as a young mother who reconnects with her playboy father on an adventure through New York. The cameras should be rolling next month in the city.
The movie also marks Coppola going back to Bling Ring production company A24 and the first time that Apple has dipped its toe in feature films, as the tech company spreads its tendrils further into entertainment.
Despite his legendarily difficult-to-find status, Murray has been busy, working on Jim Jarmusch's The Dead Don't Die and heading to Paris for Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch.
