Yes indeedy, the votes are in and may we say a big 'thank you' to the thousands of you who took the time to vote online in Empire's Ultimate Movie Poll. Over 3000 votes were cast in the online-only Best Trailer category and we're delighted to be able to share the results with you now. Clearly Hollywood's box office blockbusters and their huge trailer budgets produce the trailers that remain uppermost in your mind, years after they've been and gone. Movies more than a year old account for six of the top ten trailers featured. But now to the winner. Peter Jackson's upcoming first instalment in his The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy broke internet records when it became the most downloaded movie trailer of all time. Unsurprisingly it tops this category, with more than twice as many votes as its nearest rival, The Phantom Menace. We were most surprised to find the hugely popular Harry Potter trailer languishing in fifth place behind the Matrix and Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. Following hot on the heels of Gladiator and stealing seventh place is the erstwhile trailer to Spider-Man, which was taken down following the attack on the World Trade Centre. But, without further ado, here are your Top 10 trailers of all time. Best Trailer 10. Independence Day 9. Fight Club 8. Jurassic Park 7. Spider-Man 6. Gladiator 5. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 4. Planet of the Apes 3. The Matrix 2. Star Wars: Episode I 1. Lord of the Rings NB: You'll need Quicktime to link to these trailers.
