Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Wake Sleeper

Last we heard, way back in 2008, DC/Wildstorm Comics' Sleeper was in the capable hands of Sam Raimi. Development seemed to nod off and nothing ever came of the project, but it's now been picked up again by no less a producing partnership than Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. They're putting the reawakened Sleeper together at Warner Bros. in cahoots with third producer Jennifer Todd.

The comic, by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, ran for a couple of years between 2003 and 2005, and involved several complex crossovers with the rest of the Wildstorm universe. It centers on Holden Carver, AKA The Conductor, who, thanks to contact with a weird alien artefact, develops the ability to absorb and store pain, and then pass it on again. He starts out as an undercover infiltrator of the criminal mob run by The Tactical Augemented Organism (TAO), but ends up switching sides and turning genuinely gangsta. And then, Yojimbo-like, he starts to play both sides for his own ends.

Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and David Wiener (The Killing, Flesh And Bone) have been brought in to take the first crack at the screenplay, but there's no director or start date yet. Could either Damon or Affleck take the hot seat? There's no confirmed cast either, so it's unclear at this stage whether Affleck and Damon have any intention of the first onscreen re-teaming since Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.
