While Ben Affleck was shut out of the director category at yesterday morning’s Oscar nominations announcement, he and team Argo can take some comfort that he scored a win at the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critic’s Choice Awards, which were handed out in Santa Monica.
But it was Silver Linings Playbook that emerged as the night’s big winner, scoring Best Ensemble, Best Comedy, and the acting awards (comedy division) for stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. She even scored two awards thanks to the odd new genre categories announced this year, as she also won Best Actress In An Action Film for The Hunger Games.
Plenty of films scored gongs this year, though Lincoln only reaped three (Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, Adapted Screenplay for Tony Kushner and Original Score for John Williams) despite dominating the nominations.
