Like a deadly Furyan tracking us from the shadows, we keep getting glimpses of the upcoming new Riddick movie. We've had multiple stills, one-sheets and trailers, usually courtesy of Vin Diesel's own Facebook feed, but this new poster is an exclusive of The Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide. Riddick has escaped!

"Survival is his revenge" rumbles the tagline: a snappy encapsulation of the film's set-up, which sees Riddick left for dead on an inhospitable rock by the army of Necromongers he inherited at the end of the last film. Seems they were less-than-impressed with their new Grand Marshall.

Alone on a planet where a dangerous convergence of environmental and animal events is imminent (think Pitch Black's eclipse and bat-things, but with a monsoon and mud demons) Riddick is forced to activate a rescue beacon. Which is fine as a plan, until competing bounty-hunter clans show up to claim him.

Deliberately a much smaller-scale affair than Chronicles' space-opera shenanigans, **Riddick **is a return to the vibe of Pitch Black. It's even been put together essentially as an indie (ensuring an R-rating and no studio interference), although Universal came aboard to distribute once the film was up and running.

Vin Diesel, of course, is Riddick, with David Twohy in the director's chair as before. Co-stars this time out are Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Raoul Trujillo and Nolan Funk.

Riddick is out in the UK on September 4. Keep an eye on future Empires for our adventures on set.
