Top tip: never give Alicia Vikander a bow and arrow. Especially if she’s mad at you. A brand new trailer for the Tomb Raider reboot has just arrived, and it’s got Vikander’s take on Lara Croft firing deadly arrows a-plenty.

The new teaser, soundtracked by a moody cover of Destiny’s Child’s Survivor, shows Lara navigating the streets of East London in a cycle chase, before pitching her on a mission to locate her missing dad (Dominic West). The difficult bit? He’s on a deadly island packed with gun-toting baddies, led by the dependably-villainous Walton Goggins. He’s playing the head of nefarious organization Trinity, who have set ‘genocidal’ plans in motion.

There are high hopes for Tomb Raider to buck the trend for disappointing game-to-film adaptations, particularly as the rebooted Tomb Raider game series, which the new cinematic outing is largely based on, brought a fresh lease of life to Lara Croft’s story. Similar to Crystal Dynamics’ game, the new Tomb Raider promises gigantic disaster movie-inspired set-pieces with an emphasis on survival in brutally harsh environments.

The adaptation has celebrated Norwegian director Roar Uthaug behind the lens, and will hit UK cinemas on March 16.
