It was on! Then it was off! Now it’s on again… Sort of. Maybe? You might recall earlier this year that there was chatter about Marvel and US telly network ABC creating a spin-off from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. focused on Adrienne Palicki’s Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter before deciding to stick with the current show. Now? The new series appears to be back in contention.

Variety reports that the potential show – now being described less as a spin-off and more its own separate series – will be called Marvel’s Most Wanted and will, yes, feature Morse and Hunter, continuing their story. Right now, it exists as a pilot order, with S.H.I.E.L.D. producers Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski writing the script and aiming to run the show if it reaches the air, with Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb also involved.

Nothing is known yet about how (or even if) it will intertwine with S.H.I.E.L.D., or whether the idea will be introduced as a “backdoor pilot” – an episode of the show – rather than simply launching on its own. When it was originally put on the backburner, ABC executives said that the focus would be on S.H.I.E.L.D., but it would now appear the channel wants more Marvel. And this is in addition to the secretive project being developed by 12 Years A Slave’s John Ridley, who has already created one series, American Crime, for the channel.
