Aaron Eckhart has certainly been trying to keep things fresh with his career recently, hopping between genres to appear in The Dark Knight, Love Happens, and the upcoming mix of emotional drama Rabbit Hole and alien invasion action thriller Battle: Los Angeles. His next job will see him in another thriller, this time The Expatriate, a Bourne-style thriller that sees a ex-CIA agent on the run in Europe.

Philipp Stolzi is calling the shots for the film, with Eckhart playing a spy who decides to get out of the agency, nab a job as the security expert for a big multinational company and try to restore his relationship with his estranged 15-year-old daughter.

But even though he figures going to work in one of the most boring places on Earth, Belgium*, he arrives at the office one day to find the business no longer exists, everyone he worked with has vanished and his assistant is actually an assassin (an assitan?) out to kill him. Cue a chase as our hero sets out to escape, all the while trying to patch things up with his angry sprog, whose mood isn’t helped by learning dear old dad’s old job was rather different that she thought…

Stolzi plans to kick off shooting early next year on location in Belgium and Montreal.

**Sorry Belgium. We kid because we love. *
