Never Say Never Again Review

The evil SPECTRE organisation hijack two nuclear warheads, forving Bond out of retirement in a battle to save the world from terrorism.

“Good to see you, Mr. Bond. Now that you’re on this I hope we’re going to have some gratuitous sex and violence,” enthuses Q as 007 manifests himself once more in the guise of Sean Connery.

Despatched to a health farm to get himself in shape for the mission ahead (and to get a toupee fitted by the looks of things), Big Tam does at least handle the whole charade, a retread of Thunderball, with a pleasing sense of irony as he reacquaints himself with old adversary Blofeld (Von Sydow) and thwarts SPECTRE’s plans for the underwater hijacking of some nuclear weapons and thus — oh yes — global domination.

Connery was perhaps wise to call it quits the first time round.
