Original Title:

Monster-In-Law

Making her comeback as a comic grotesque after 15 years, cosmetic surgery and finding God, Fonda plays a rich, famous but washed-up TV presenter who goes into meltdown when bland mommy's boy Vartan proposes to adorable nobody Lopez and does her devious worst to drive her prospective daughter-in-law crazy.

The mother-in-law joke is flogged to death in a variant of Meet The Parents. Since it's Meet The Single Mother you might only hope for half the laughs, but you'd still be overly optimistic about a hopelessly predictable wheeze.

Let's see: gay confidant? Check; sassy African-American maid - sorry, PA, who tells the witch some home truths? Check. Problem pet? Rehearsal dinner drama? Wedding crisis? Check, check and check. And a note to Fonda: even thin, fabulous 67-year-olds shouldn't wear strapless gowns. It's scary.
