Love, Rosie Review

Pals since childhood, Alex (Claflin) and Rosie (Collins) find their friendship in turmoil after a drunken kiss. Might there be something more between them?

Lily Collins and Sam Claflin star in this amiable romantic comedy based on the Cecelia Ahern novel. Best friends since childhood, Rosie and Alex appear to share an unspoken attraction, but various obstacles — including his move to America and her secret pregnancy (yes, really) — conspire to keep them apart. This follows them through the ensuing years in a fairly aimless fashion, but sparky, engaging performances and a fitfully amusing script keep things entertaining: some of Rosie’s embarrassing scrapes have the feel of a slightly ruder, younger Bridget Jones, but fans of Ahern’s book will be well served.

Likeable leads and the odd good joke makes this romance an amiable time-passer.
