Bill Forsyth's whimsical comedy remains almost as fresh now (if you ignore the rather clunky pager) as it did back in 1983.
Reminiscent of the Ealing comedies of old and shot through with a child-like sense of wonder and an irrepressible joie de vivre, this tale of the 'little people' taking on a US conglomerate - and winning - is both subtle and sly, thanks in no small part to the wonderful Denis Lawson as the eponymous hero.
Life-affirming and often laugh-out-loud funny, this is feel-good movie-making par excellence.
