Original Title:

Le Gout Des Autres

A married businessman falls for his artistic English teacher in this observant comedy. Unfortunately, she's uninterested and embarrassed by his clumsy attempts to enter her social circle. Meanwhile, his two bodyguards both become involved with the same woman.

These worlds collide to gently humorous effect, with sub-plots reinforcing the theme of compromise amidst contrast. The film develops into easy, yet subtle, viewing, its conclusion hovering ambiguously between romantic idealism and weary cynicism.

Easy, yet subtle viewing.
