Original Title:

And When Did You Last See Your Father?

Hilary And Jackie director Anand Tucker brings Blake Morrison’s autobiographical bestseller to the screen with sensitivity, humour and visual flair.

Colin Firth plays the author, who’s thrown into confusion by the imminent death of his father Arthur (Jim Broadbent), a stubborn, domineering man. Blake struggles to resolve his feelings while seeing his father through his final days, with flashbacks gradually filling us in on their personal history.

Broadbent is a hoot as the bullish Arthur, while Firth brings a quiet dignity to the adult scenes.

A superior British drama.
