Danny Elfman To Take Over The Justice League Score

Danny Elfman

Following news that Joss Whedon will be shooting additional footage and helping to finish Justice League after Zack Snyder stepped away to deal with a family tragedy, there are more changes coming to the movie. Danny Elfman is taking over score duties from Antonius Tom Holkenborg, AKA Junkie XL.

Holkenborg, who shared musical duties with Hans Zimmer on Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, had already been at work on the music for Justice League but is now moving on from the superhero team movie for reasons that will likely only be known to those involved. He did offer a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, however. "As my mentor Hans Zimmer told me — you haven't made it in Hollywood as a composer until you get replaced on a project. So I guess I finally graduated this week. It pains me to leave the project, but a big thanks to Zack for asking me to part of his vision, and I wish Danny, Joss and Warner Bros all the best with Justice League."

This isn't the first time Elfman was parachuted into working on a superhero movie that Joss Whedon was involved in; he also added music to Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Whedon kicked off the additional shooting on the latest DCEU movie this week in London, and Justice League will be out on 17 November.
