House Party 2 Review

Rappers Kid 'n' Play return to trumpet a liberal score of sass, sex and racial politics in this lightweight sequel to the previous year's sleeper hit. Honouring the wish of his dead father, Kid has decided to put his musical career on hold and go to college.

Unfortunately partner Play, ever on the lookout for cash and crumpet, has given Kid's grant cheque to bogus record company talent scout Sheila, in return for solo studio time.

Penniless and faced with eviction from campus, what more can poor Kid do but organise another house party - this time in the college dining hall - to solve his financial problems? As a movie that manages to extol both the virtues of a good education and, ahem, female undergraduates in negliges - at time coming on like Carry On Campus - this is nevertheless an enjoyable evening's entertainment.
