Scripted by Malcolm Muggeridge, this fairly bitter and very British satire on the foibles of the Anglican church casts Sellers in one of his subtler, most affecting roles as a fiercely innocent, unfashionably dedicated clergyman who gets mixed up with easy-going Ian Carmichael and is appointed to an upscale parish, where his commitment to charity and Christian values continually gets him into trouble, leading to a storm of media interest. In a finish that goes beyond comedy into satirical horror, Sellers is appointed Bishop Of Outer Space and insists on taking up residence.
