Original Title:

Hannah Arendt

Hannah Arendt (Barbara Sukowa) was the German-Jewish philosopher who covered the 1961 Jerusalem trial of Nazi-escapee Adolf Eichmann for The New Yorker. While lively and accessible, Margarethe von Trotta’s biopic will insist on spelling things out.

There's plenty of zip and vibrancy in this account of Arendt and the Eichmann trial, but it gravely underestimates its audience's stomach for complexity.
