For his second feature, director Tommy O'Haver goes mainstream with this frothy teen comedy. When Berke (Foster) is unceremoniously dumped by his childhood sweetheart Allison (Sagemiller), he turns to his best friend's sister, Kelly (Dunst), to help him win her back, by landing a role opposite her in the school production of A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Eve.
O'Haver struggles to find an original voice in this saturated genre, and Get Over It often comes off as an amalgam of previous hits. The Shakespeare on campus angle is a little tired, but the film manages to holds its own with Ally McBeal-style fantasy sequences and good chemistry between Foster and Dunst. The funniest moments, however, come from Swoosie Kurtz and Ed Begley Jr. as Berke's sexually liberated parents.
