Written and directed by Rama Burshtein, an 18 year-old Haredi Jewish girl (Hadas Yaron) is shocked by a family tragedy. In the aftermath she wrestles with a dilemma: whether to marry for her mother’s sake. It’s absorbing and sensitively acted, but a little more lightness would have relieved the pervading unhappiness.

Like Saudi Arabia's Wadjda, Burshtein's film is a groundbreaking first - the first Israeli film to be directed by a woman - and although it lacks a little of the emotional heft of Haifaa al-Mansour's work, it's a well acted and delicately told tale.
