*The Gojiro-sized 300th edition of Empire is fittingly soundtracked by the man currently hard at work on a city-crunching Godzilla of his own (in our cinemas on May 15). Presumably using his lunchbreak for the purpose, Gareth Edwards compiled a playlist of the classical and film music cues that inspired him before putting camera to monster. Enjoy...
"This is the (heavily reduced) playlist I used to inspire me for Godzilla. I used to walk around London late at night, in-between Skype and calls with LA, looking up at the buildings and trying to give myself goosebumps picturing sequences. As you’ll see, Alexandre Desplat gets a high score, so it was a dream come true when he agreed to compose music for the movie."
