Faintheart Review

Image for Faintheart

A romantic comedy set in the world of battle re-enactments, about an irresponsible guy who has to shape up in order to win back his wife.

★★★★★

This film surprisingly proves that the internet is full of weirdos. Made with the assistance of MySpace (and representatives thereof) this is the achingly unhip story of battle re-enactment geek Richard (Marsan) attempting to win back his wife (Hynes) while beating Norman invaders along the way. His best friend (Bremmer) is a Trekkie trying to find a girl to love, and Richard’s son (Hamilton) is being bullied at school because daddy is such an oddball. The stage is set for a Full Monty-like story, but Richard is so pathetic that it’s very hard to root for him - the laughs come few and far between in a story as drab as the Northern skies under which it is set.
