Picking up after the successful first movie, the forces of good and evil continue to battle it out for control of the mythical Death Note.
Shusuke kaneko’s sequelto his hit tale of deities and poison pens ups the ante enough to make this faintly ridiculous fantasy-mystery worth catching. Picking up after the first flick, this finds a second Death Note (a book in which a scribbled name spells doom for whoever it belongs to) landing on Earth and the forces of good, led by L (Matsuyama), trying to discover the identity of the moniker-scrawling vigilante, Light (Fujiwara). Feeling like Infernal Affairs for role-playing gamers, there’s a cerebral thread that runs through this hokum, and despite an air of silliness there’s plenty of fun to be had.
