With Deadpool doing huge business ($282 million and counting worldwide after just a few days on release), it looks set to help launch Ryan Reynolds into a new career stratosphere. And he's already considering fresh projects, including Life, which has Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation's Rebecca Ferguson already attached to star.

The sci-fi thriller also boasts a number of people Reynolds has worked with in the past - Deadpool writing duo Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been drafting the script and Daniel Espinosa, who directed the actor in 2012's Safe House is aboard to call the shots.

Life's story is still largely being kept in an info-vacuum for now, but previous reports had it focusing on the International Space Station, where samples recently procured from Mars turn out to display more than the expected signs of intelligence. But even given the potential reunion of part of Team Deadpool, we doubt it'll see Reynolds making cracks about Matt Damon and The Martian.

Right now, Reynolds is simply in talks; floating just outside the docking ring of the new project like a shuttle that has yet to make full contact. His actual next film to be released will be memory-swap thriller Criminal, due here on April 15. Want more from the man himself?
