CrissCross Review

This is obviously one of those "personal projects" made because a big name star wants to do something uncommercial in return for top-lining a crowd-pleasing comedy-thriller. Set at the time of the moon landing, Goldie Hawn is a struggling working mom trying to keep down jobs as a waitress and nudie dancer despite the disapproval of her son, who's unwittingly being used as a go-between by drugs dealers, and who concocts a plan to get the family off the breadline by ripping off his employers. Hawn is okay in a serious role, and the film evokes the 60s competently, but it's not really compelling or unusual enough as a drama to reward the effort.
