Conversations With Other Women Review

When a man and woman start flirting at a wedding it turns into more and then their past starts to get in the way...

There’s palpable sexual tension between Aaron Eckhart and Helena Bonham Carter in this low-key drama. As their characters begin a loaded conversation at a wedding, the reason for their connection is gradually revealed. Like Before Sunrise, the entire film is based around real-time dialogue between articulate protagonists and is observant and witty enough to entertain. But the constant split-screen presentation is likely to divide audiences just as it does its characters; Mike Figgis’ Timecode made arguably better work of the device.

Witty and articulate but the continual editing devices can distract from the momentum.
