Clifford, the really, really big red dog goes through quite a few Tummy Yummies - his favourite food. To save his owners the cost of buying it, Clifford enters a talent competition to win a lifetime supply.

★★★★★

As fans of the PBS cartoon series will know, Clifford is a Big Red Dog. A really big red dog. The size of a house, in fact. Naturally, it costs his owners a fair bit to feed him, so in this big-screen, trad-animated spin-off Clifford decides to enter an animal talent contest to win a lifetime's supply of Tummy Yummies, his favourite dog food.

As he runs away to join the circus with his canine sidekicks, Cleo the poodle and scrappy mutt T-Bone, there's plenty of action and adventure to keep small kids diverted, and the antics of his fellow performers are enjoyably choreographed (look out for the tightrope-walking cow).

The humour, though, is aimed squarely at the under-tens, so the rest of us will find it a bit bland.
