How United fans Phil and Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham went from the terraces to the team and won the treble.
From Turner Brothers, Gabe and Benjamin, comes another deft football documentary, following their Maradona-hunting In The Hands Of The Gods. This traces the six most famous graduates of the ’92 Manchester United youth team, as they rose to secure an unprecedented trophy treble in 1999. With Zidane, Cantona and Danny Boyle among those who pay tribute to Beckham, Giggs et al, it’s a warm, insightful study of excellence. Even including Tony Blair is redeemed by a masterful cut, from his vacuous blathering about a greater meaning to Paul Scholes’ unfussy explanation: “I think, in our eyes, we were just playing a game of football with our mates.”
An absorbing documentary about a football fairy tale - engrossing for any admirer of the beautiful game, but for United fans, it's unmissable.
