The large family of Spanish industrialist Max (Gómez) who was once an exiled Communist rebel, gather in Paris where he's being treated for terminal cancer. Victor (Sbaraglia), the youngest of three grown sons, begins to wonder whether Max's ramblings about a 40 year-old mystery might not be simple paranoia and tries to help his father get in touch with someone his sinister mother (Chaplin) claims does not exist.

A family melodrama played out like a conspiracy thriller, City boasts enough characters and plot turns for an entire soap season, but is presented with tantalising subtlety. It's an unusual look at an anonymous Paris, and Intacto's Sbaraglia is shaping up as a major international star.
