A pastiche of Dan Dare-style '50s sci-fi.
Newcomer Simon DaVison’s film is a Dan Dare pastiche, a deliberately sloppy parody of the naffest of ’50s sci-fi.
DaVison seems to draw his inspiration more from Ed Wood - and not in a good way. He may be brimming with enthusiasm, but he’s lacking even the whisper of an idea of what makes an entertaining movie.
Mistaking overacting for comedy, his predilection for harsh electronic noises will have you reaching for the Paramol. This should have been a 10-minute short - if that. At 90-odd minutes, it’s tooth-squeakingly unbearable.
Terrible, just terrible.
