Campfire Tales Review

A group of teens, stranded in the woods after a car accident, entertain themselves by telling classic horror stories.

Stranded by a motor accident, kids tell stories of travellers menaced by madmen, cannibals and ghostly farmer's daughters. The stories offer situations rather than plots, but all go for pleasing shivers. The final twist isn't unprecedented, but it is nicely pulled-off. A no-name cast (apart from Mrs Ben Stiller; Christine Taylor) perform well and keep the tension right up there and three credited directors do a decent, professional job.

What follows is a series of eerie tales that include monsters, psychopaths, and ghosts, and that remind you that things aren't always what they seem. Other films have later gone down a similar path, Urban Legend 1&2 but not with the sort of unnerving tension that this piece manages to pull off.

A situation that lacks originality turns up some clever surprises.
