Blood Ties Review

A not-bad TV pilot with a vampire theme, directed by Jim McBride.

The hero is a Carpathian-American reporter who thinks his blood-drinking folks should "come out of the coffin", but he's caught between a Dracula-style Godfather (Patrick Bauchau) who is against assimilation and a bunch of Bible-bashing, stake-wielding vigilante vampire-killers led by a spade-bearded Bo Hopkins.

It's a little tame - the most dangerous vampires are a bunch of breakdancing graffiti artists on motorbikes - but it plays a few unusual variations on the old themes, and Michelle Johnson enlivens things as a vampire babe who enjoys scaling the outside of buildings in her little black dress.
